The Visit Hickory Metro team encourages visitors and locals to explore the Hickory Metro region carefully and safely. The state of North Carolina has lifted all mass gathering limits at this time but encourages individuals to still practice the three W's - Wear, Wait, Wash. People who are fully vaccinated can do all of the things that they did before the pandemic. Those unvaccinated, should still wear a mask in public indoor settings & public outdoor settings when they cannot maintain social distance. Harper House/Lyerly House


Built by Daniel Webster in 1887. Traditional Queen Anne architectural elements characterize the house from the hipped roof with lower cross gables, to the scalloped wooden shingles and stained glass windows. Today, guests learn about the boom-and-bust economy of nineteenth-century Hickory as they tour the three primary floors. Tours are given on Thursday-Saturday at 10a, 11a, 1p, 2p and 3p.
