LRU Visiting Writers Series - Morgan Parker


Every year, the LRU Visiting Writers Series invites authors to tell the stories behind their own works in a relaxed environment before university and community audiences. We invite you to come listen to Morgan Parker, author of There Are More Beautiful Things Than BeyoncéOther People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up At Night, and the poetry collection Magical Negro. Parker received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and creative writing from Columbia University and her MFA in poetry from NYU. Her poetry and essays have been published in various renowned publications, including the New York Times, the Paris Review, and Best American Poetry 2016. Parker is also a winner of a 2016 Pushcart Prize, the recipient of a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship, and a Cave Canem graduate fellow. 

The event will be held in the Belk Centrum on LRU campus.  The event is free and open to the public. Tickets may be obtained by calling 828.328.7206 or going to the box office in PE Monroe Auditorium.
